When signing a school permission slip for your child to go on a school field trip, be sure not to assume that it relieves the school for everything that might go wrong. Sometimes the bus carrying the school kids may be involved in a motor vehicle accident and the school would still have responsibility for any injuries that might occur.
No one ever wants to think that an incident would occur during a class field trip. If an incident should occur, do not assume that the permsission slip waives your child’s right to compensation. The school may claim “immunity” but no conclusions should be made until you have consulted with a lawyer.
