Consumers who lose money because of another professional’s misconduct should not hesistate to retain an attorney and pursue a recovery of their money. Consumer claims may be brought against stockbrokers who negligently lose their client’s money in trades which were inappropriate or unauthorized. Consumer claims may be brought against an accountant or CPA for poor financial planning advice or incorrect computations of tax liability. Consumer claims may be brought against attorneys who steal client funds or takes fees for work that was not performed. Consumer claims may be brought against banks who lose or mishandle client accounts.
Often times, a consumer will lose money because of professional misconduct but will think it is not worth hiring a lawyer to try and recover the lost money. This is a flawed assumption because in some cases, a lawyer will work for a percentage of the recovery, rather than billiing by the hour, and in some cases, a lawyer will handle the case for free.
Given how hard it is in this present economy, no consumer should simply accept that a professional has cost them financially.
