Big business owns the Republican-majority Ohio Legislature. Yesterday, the obedient minions rubber-stamped the demands of big business to virtually eliminate the rights of consumers under the Ohio Consumer Sales Practice Act. They sold out consumers by placing ridiculously low caps on damages and eliminated rights that Ohio consumers had, indeed rights that were recently recognized by the Ohio Supreme Court.
What this means is that your elected representatives cozied up with big busniess and wrote them a free pass to enforce fraudulent mortgages, penalty free foreclosure cases, and all but put out the welcome mat for predatory lenders and lying and cheating car dealers.
This act, in a lame duck session, is outrageous and despicable. These legislators sold out their constituents. Every Ohio citizen should check to see how their representative or senator voted, and if they voted to cancel the consumer’s rights, VOTE THE BUM OUT OF OFFICE.
