With the holiday season, many employers will host an office party and, according to national surveys, alcohol is more likely to be provided than before. However, alcohol-fueled office parties sometimes result in incidents of sexual harrassment.

No employer will tolerate sexual harrassment, whether an inappropriate comment, or inappropriate physical contact, to any employee. This will be clearly set forth in the Employee Handbook. However, some employees are subjected to this conduct, and the frequency of incidents increases during the office holiday party.

Offended or harrassed or abused employess should not tolerate inappropriate conduct, no matter what the work occasion. If an incident should occur, the employee may want to consider contacting an attorney to advise them of their rights, rather than going to Human Resources, which sometimes may opt to defend to offender.
